Camp Programs
Camp offers an amazing experience that will provide your child skills they will leverage their whole life. Building their Self-Confidence, Awareness, Leadership, and Responsibility. Courses are led by US Sailing Certified Instructors and include both on the water instruction as well as off the water activities. Our overall goal is simple—teach kids how to sail and encourage them to have fun on the water and enjoy this amazing resource!

Age 6-8 Price $275
Beginner class designed for our youngest sailors. Play focused and experience based learning designed to introduce boating in a controlled environment. Topics will include safety around docks, how to wear life jackets and wet suits, and basic boat handling. Sailors will build up to sailing our 8 ft Opti’s as teams of two by the end of the week. * For sailors that are 8 years old but will be turning 9 before the fall season Opti Little Fry will allow your sailor to join the Opti Sailing Team. Please speak to your camp instructor if you are interested in this option. |

Opti Beginner
|
Age 9-12 Price $275
This sailing course is the most popular way for beginners to learn the fundamentals of sailing. Using safe and stable Opti sailboats, sailors will learn to rig, take down, tack, jibe, and execute a safety stop. This is the first camp in the Opti program. Completion of Opti Beginner allows your sailor to progress to Opti Intermediate. Completion of any Opti Summer Camp will allow your sailor to join the Opti Sailing Team in the fall. If you are interested in this option please speak to your camp instructor. |

Opti Intermediate

The Opti Intermediate sailing course is perfect for those who have completed the beginner course and are looking for a little more content and sailing time. With a focus on building confidence and comfort on the water, this camp introduces new skills like sail trim and solo sailing while reinforcing good habits. By the end of the week our goal is to get your sailor to experience the joy of sailing an Opti by themselves in light to medium winds. We will utilize games, demonstrations and adventure days to reinforce learning. *Completion of Opti Intermediate allows your sailor to progress to Opti Advanced. After taking any Opti camp your sailor is eligible to join our Opti sailing team in the fall! |

Opti Advanced

Age 9-12 Price $275
The Opti Advanced sailing course is for those who have completed the intermediate course. With a focus on building confidence and comfort on the water, this camp focuses on more advanced skills while reinforcing good habits and introducing some race concepts. By the end of this camp our goal is to get your sailor comfortable sailing an Opti single handed in moderate conditions. We tend to have our biggest adventures be a part of Opti Advanced. * Sailors completing Opti Advanced camp will be well prepared to join the Opti Sailing team. This is also the camp that most of the current members of the Opti Sailing Team will participate in to get more time on the water and jump start their next season. |

Ocean Explorers Camp
Age 9-12 Price $275
Ocean Explorers is a deep dive into exploring the watery world that surrounds us all on the Olympic Peninsula. Depending on the day we will explore the harbor in motorboats, sailboats, and by putting on wetsuits and jumping right in!
We always plan at least one adventure day to head into the strait to see what experiences and sea life await a true mariner. We will collect water samples and explore the wonderful world of plankton with the use of a special microscope. We will learn how to identify marine mammals, invertebrates, seabirds, and seaweed. We will pull crab pots and interact with the two most common crab species in the harbor, Dungeness and Red Rock crab. Really this camp is just a great excuse to get out on the water, get dirty, and learn about the ocean!
Last year we also saw harbor seals, mink, river otters and a Stellar sea lion! Along the way we will keep a list of every species that we discover to see if we can beat last years record of 45 species. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity for your child to immerse themselves in the beauty of the sea.

Teen Vanguard Camp
Age 13-17 Price $275
This camp is a great introduction to sailing two person dinghies. Vanguard 15's are fast and fun sailboats. Participants can expect to learn how to rig the boats and sail in both the skipper and the crew positions. We will use demonstrations, games and adventures to reinforce sailing concepts.
This program is great preparation for those interested in joining either our middle school sailing team, or our high school sailing team. The Vanguard 15 is the boat that we currently use for our middle school team, but is loved by youth and adults alike for its speed and ease of sailing.

Working in teams of 4-5 aboard either a 22 ft Capri, or a Santa Cruz 27. Sailors will learn a wide range of skills including setting and taking down sails, trimming sails, and communicating. This course compliments our dinghy sailing camps, as it reinforces and expands on all the fundamental skills learned in dinghy sailing.
Keelboat camp will help familiarize sailors with keelboats who might be interested in joining our keelboat sailing team. If you are interested in the option please speak with your instructor.
